Fluid Eating's Review of Alphabet Bar
On a weekend [and in West Soho, the weekend starts on Wednesday], you may well have to queue to get into Alphabet Bar, such is its popularity in this neck of the woods.
The ground floor of Alphabet houses a long bar with table seating covering the floor and arty imagery draping the walls. Downstairs, the basement is a much more surreal experience with customised car seats and big sofas offering themselves up to the mainly media based regulars. Artworks hang from the walls creating a continuously evolving gallery for the good-looking arty crowd of 20-somethings.

An escape from the hustle and bustle of Soho, Alphabet has been part of the Soho fabric since 1995. Loved by the locals it stands out from the crowd with ease and style. Not pretentious it just enjoys a great night out....like its customers. One of the original bars to innovate the term 'shabby chic', Alphabet Bar is very much a stand-out part of the Soho scene. From the map of Soho and car seat furniture in the decor, to the menus of great bar food, cocktails, spirits, beers from around the world and an extensive wine list, Alphabet Bar is very proud of its devotion to quality, making it a great place to come and unwind in welcoming, comfortable surroundings. Alphabet continues to be a popular venue for events, launches and wrap parties. The bar can cater for parties of up to 200 people and will work closely with you to ensure you enjoy a most memorable special occasion. (Updated 26/02/2011)
“We spent our evening downstairs in the basement which, although colourful, does feel a little bit like an afterthought. A bit chilly, a bit run down, a bit smelly, and the bar down there is not great. Recommend upstairs if you’re going. It looked like much more fun.”

“I went to alphabet bar for drinks with some friends and had a great night. It’s a really quirky little bar that seems to attract a good mix of people. Good food, good music, delicious cocktails and some comfy seats to unwind in, you can’t really go wrong! Only thing I would say is it gets quite busy on a Friday night, so you would need to get there early to be sure to get a seat/table.”

“The description reads a lot better than it actually is. Went there back in December for my birthday drinks and we had reserved an area which was tiny and ended up downing drinks quickly so that we would get inibriated and have a better time. DJ was quite good though :)”

“Called in for cocktails last week, not been for a while. Great crowd, chilled but busy. Had some amazing cocktails. Mojito to die for. We sat in basement on some old comfy sofas and had a great catch up. Alphabet Bar is a great place with no attitude in Soho. Viva!”

“Had a great & relaxed time catching up with friends at the Alphabet Bar, unusual and well made cocktails. A nice, attitude free & chilled bar.”
