Soho’s New Pop-Up Restaurant

Atul Kochhar’s Michelin-starred Indian restaurant, Benares, in Mayfair is bringing its contemporary British Indian cuisine to Soho with the launch of a pop-up restaurant at Meza.

From 4th – 28th May 2011, the modern grill menu of Meza will be replaced by some of Atul’s inspiring Benares dishes and some new and exciting examples of his modern British Indian cuisine. Available for four weeks only, the relaxed menu will offer sharing platters and examples of Indian street food.

Sample dishes include: Rajasthani crisp okra with harrisa mayonnaise; Goan goat koftas with lavender and peanut honey; Kashmiri style lamb Roganjosh and potato and ginger cakes, Punjabi chickpeas, tamarind. The décor of Meza will be transformed using brightly coloured silk and ambient lighting offering diners authentic yet modern Indian surroundings in the heart of Soho.

Atul commented “Doing a pop-up restaurant at Meza is an exciting opportunity.   I have always liked the buzz of Soho and hope we, as Benares Restaurant, will add to its amazing food culture."
 
Atul Kochhar has been instrumental in redefining the way people perceive and experience Indian food. At the age of just 31, Atul became the first Indian chef to be awarded a Michelin star in January 2001. His incredible ability to create unique and rare dishes using inspiration from regular trips to India and all parts of the world has formed the highly successful Benares restaurant.
 
The pop-up will be open for dinner only, Monday – Saturday and Benares restaurant in Mayfair will be operating as normal.
